The Road Rules were developed and implemented to keep members and non-members alike, safe during group rides. We expect all of our members to abide by the road rules during all Seductive Cycles group rides.

Road Rules
– adopted August 14, 2003.

1.When you change lanes, go to the far side of the lane so someone else can also change lanes... ie; if you are on the left side of the right lane, when you move to the left lane, go all the way to the left side of the lane~

2. When coming to a turn on a regular road, (for a twisty road see rule 4) drop into a single file line~ The rider on the side of the turn direction will lead the turn~ If it's a left turn, rider on left side will go first and rider to his/her right will follow, and vise-versa for a right turn~

3. Learn the hand signals~ The basic ones that we use are:

A. Hand tapping top of helmet: There's a cop around~
B. Pointing to the ground with hand or foot: There's something in the road on that side~
C. Left arm extended and bent 90 degrees with closed fist: We are about to make a final turn in and stop~
D. Left Arm extended and bent 90 degrees with open hand: Right turn~
E. Left arm straight out: Left turn~
F. Left arm extended out and slightly waving up and down with open hand: slow down or possible stop~
G. Someone flashing all five fingers of one hand at you: you forgot to turn off your turn signal~
H. One leg extended to side of bike: That person is about to change sides within a lane in that direction~ (It's okay to use blinkers as well)
I. Pointing to the gas tank: I need gas~
J. Pointing to your stomach: I need food~

4. When you're on a twisty road with a group, ride in a single file line and DO NOT ride above your skill level! The lead rider will always wait at the end of the road for everyone and usually do a head count to make sure no one went down~ Take it easy, we will wait for you, rather than wait for you, and then bury you~

5. Don't go flying by someone at high speed in the same lane as they are in unless they have waved you by~

6. Stunting – No stunting in the travel lanes, please. If you stunt, pull out into unused lanes or the opposite direction lanes. It is too dangerous to stunt in the pack. We usually stop at designated areas for stunting

7. When you first ride with a large group or an unfamiliar group, I suggest you stay in back and on whatever side that has an escape route~ You need to be thinking what will I do if someone in front of me goes down~ It does happen!

8. When decelerating, if you don't brake and just let off the throttle, make sure that you tap your brake a couple of times so that the bikes behind you will know you are slowing down~

9. Wear protective gear. At the least you should have a jacket, helmet, gloves, and ankle boots~

10. If you need to stop while riding in the group, pull well off to the side of the road, or onto the shoulder. Do not stop in the road, or you will probably get hit.

11. *Be gassed up when we meet*

12. Keep an emergency card with all of your information and emergency contact info. on your bike or on yourself~ This will be most helpful should you go down and need medical assistance~

13. Occasionally when turning, a bike might pull out to turn, but stop in the intersection... he is stopping to create a barrier so cars know to stop and allow the group to turn into the road... be aware for this.....He will then rejoin the group after the last bike has made the turn~

14. If you must leave during a group ride let someone know! We'll be looking for you...it's a real drag to have to back track, checking ditches and all, just to find out later you had to be home for dinner~

15. When following do not focus on person in front of you keep them in peripheral vision and focus ahead... i.e.; Don't target fixate!

16. Running from the cops is not condoned~ Should there be an accident:

A) Don't' move the rider unless he cannot breath/imbedded helmet in a water puddle, mud, etc....
B) Know CPR~ If you don't, then don't attempt it~
C) Do not pull out anything impaled, branches, etc... leave them in, as pulling them out you may allow more bleeding~
D) If you don't know how to use a tourniquet, don't attempt to do so~
E) Call an ambulance, if the situation appears severe, be on safe side~
F) Search for emergency card inside jacket inside or under seat~
G) Turn off bike~ Post traffic guards, shut off lanes of traffic place bike in lanes if necessary....
H) If an ambulance is used, find out where they are taking rider~
I) When the cops show up... Have a plan on what you're going to tell them, as a group. Everyone has to agree on what you're going to say. Remember to not incriminate anyone. It is OK to say "I don't know". First aid is the most important issue. If you don't know, then don't say anything. Do not give opinions on what you think happened. Anything said to reporters, peace officers, or passers-by may be used against you or your friends. To prevent confusion, it is sometimes best to have those not directly involved to move off to another location, leaving a minimal contingent of members at-the-scene.
J) Don't' take off helmet!! Make sure it goes with them to hospital for docs~ Keep talking to them if concussed, etc... Don't' let them get up~.
K) Most importantly... use your head~ Common sense is a wonderful attribute~
